Substitute the higher fat and carbohydrate ingredients used in making fried chicken for the heart-healthy ones in the oven-fried variety.
Hi, everyone. I'm chef Eddie G from Coast to Coast Cuisine. And I am passionate about cooking. Today, I'm going to show you how to prepare an oven fried chicken fried steak. It's a little play on words. You're going to love it. Let's get cooking. All right. Just some basic bread crumbs, OK. A couple of eggs right in the bowl, and we're just going to mix up those eggs. All right. So basically I learned this recipe while I was down in Charleston, South Carolina. I was a chef down there. And really what you're doing is just breading a piece of steak. So basically what we're doing is breading the steak just like we would do a chicken. So what we're going to do is we're going to add a little olive oil in there. Now you could use any kind of oil you'd like for this, but I like to use an extra virgin olive oil. What we're going to do is we're going to put it right in that pan. And we're going to really seal in those juices for a few minutes. And then what we'll do is we'll finish it off in the oven. And what this does is it gives the steak a really really nice flavor with all those bread crumbs in there. And you could use any cut of meat for this. I recommend not using bone in steak, only bone out steak, Kentucky Fried Chicken. Then just flip that right over like that, a few minutes there and then what we're going to do is we're going to finish it off in the oven. All right. There we go. It's at 300 degrees. It'll be in there for maybe 5, 10 minutes at the most. So it's been in the over for about 6 minutes. And here it is. That's how make an oven fried chicken fried steak. I'm chef Eddie G from Coast to Coast Cuisine. Stay hungry my friend.
While fried chicken typically tastes best right after you make it, you can reheat the poultry if you have leftovers. Leftovers allow you to enjoy fried chicken without the effort involved in frying more. Storing and reheating the fried chicken properly will ensure that you do not lose the original taste and texture. Convection ovens reheat fried chicken particularly well because the oven allows the air to circulate around the chicken so that it heats evenly.
